                    Question about PMMU

I have a MAC II and I am eager to know when is the best time to buy a PMMU?
How much will it be?  Do we realy need it to run later-versioned system?
Is it true that I can bypass the upgrade until I need vertual memory?
By that I mean can I still run system 7.0 without the PMMU? What kind of 
difference will it be then?
