Miniscribe 3085 under sysV/AT Summary: What to do with a drive with cylinders > 1024? Message-ID: <21055@uflorida.cis.ufl.EDU> Date: 15 Oct 89 07:07:10 GMT References: <21042@uflorida&cis.ufl.EDU> Sender: news@uflorida.cis.ufl.EDU Reply-To: wlr@beach.cis.ufl.edu () Organization: UF CIS Department Lines: 21 I've found since my previous posting that this drive has 1170 cylinders. Fdisk doesn't like it and neither does uport. I'm running System V/AT 2.4. So currently I've set the number of cylinders to 1024, which means I'm only getting 62 of the 71 meg of the drive :<<<. I'm also really disappointed at the performance. My previous drive was a Seagate 4051 39ms drive. This drive was advertised as a 22ms (many other adds claimed it to be 17/18ms) drive, but the performance I'm getting seems to be twice as slow as my old drive :(((. Is this drive really such a pig? I believe the drive parameters are 1170 cylinders, 7 heads, 1170 landing zone, -1 write precomp. Can any one help me please?
