I have seen on some systems that when a prompt (csh -> prompt environment
variable) is set, you can not backspace beyond that prompt... is there
a way to do this with xenix?

i.e.

my prompt may read:

quame!/u/bryan>

and I do not want to backspace beyond the space before the >
