The hot line for the Southern Cal area reported a Pileated
woodpecker sighted near the entrance to JPL this week. Pasadena,
La Canada area.  This is the first sighting of a Pileated in this
area that I am aware of, although I've only been birding about 5
years.

Gad, I work at JPL and missed it! Thats a lifer for me too. Guess
I start carrying the binocs to work.
