Actually, I thought the Ninth Wave was a Celtic idea. I honestly don't _know_ what the Ninth Wave is, but from reading Morgan Llywellyn's (sp?) "Bard" (a seemingly well-researched fiction novel), I get the impression that they spoke of the ninth wave as being way out from shore, practically out at sea.
