I'd be happy just to find one that actually provided the advertised range, or anything barely approaching it. I've owned several cordless phones over the past few years and I've found that their effective range is about 1/10 of what the manufacturers claim, i.e. no more than 100ft. This is for speech. The phone will ring ok over a much greater distance -- but that isn't of any use if you can hardly hear the other party, is it?
