I have a Zenith Data Systems 2400 baud modem and am having two persistent problems. I would like to try to find explanations for these problems. 1. When I start typing very quickly (30+ wpm) I find that my modem's MR (modem ready) light begins to flash and I am no longer able to communicate with the host on the other side of the connection. I AM able to use the escape sequence to get a hold of the modem. If I do a AT Z I find that I can redial without a cold boot of the modem. Can anyone tell me what would cause this condition and if there is anything I could do to keep from having to restart a session? 2. I find that certain phone numbers (one or two out of a couple of dozen that I use) my modem has trouble dialing! Typically, when I type in AT DT 5551212, my modem gets dial tone, dials the number, generates a tone, receives a complementary tone and makes a connection. But with the certain number (which causes this over 60% of the time) my modem doesnt get a dial tone but doesnt realize it, dials, generates a tone and then times out because it never got an answer. To resolve the situation with this number I either have to reset using AT Z one or more times or cold boot the modem. I am wondering what might cause this problem.
