Long live C++. Don't be silly. C has a very long life ahead of it, too. After all, just look at FORTRAN (1956!). I'm sure Algol proponents said much the same about FORTRAN. Now, some will claim that C++ has stronger typing than C. This is a valid claim, provided you've been saddled with a K&R implementation. I don't know how things are in the real world, but here in PC-land, most C compilers I have worked with have tracked the developing ANSI C standard. This means I have had strong typing and prototypes for nigh on two years now. I wonder when Unix C compilers will get updated?
