I'm looking for information related to the GNU project - about:
  * support - moral & material - from the academic community
  * volunteer work done for them by private individuals
  * support from the commercial computer industry
  * criticsms of methodology (by people who agree with their goals)
  * criticsms of goals
etc.

I have their manifesto, so I know what they are about.  They've been around
for quite a while now, and I'm interested to know how they are doing.  If I
get enough interesting information I plan to talk about them in a lecture in
a "Computers and Society" course.

Information, or pointers to articles about GNU, will be highly appreciated.
