Huntsville, AL Lines: 30 I need information pertaining to future industry standards for shielded SCSI connectors. We, at Intergraph, currently support 2 different types of shielded SCSI connector: a) Centronics-style 50-contact (0.085 inch spacing)... preferred b) AMP 50-pin (0.100 inch spacing) The proposed SCSI-2 specification lists 2 shielded connector options for the A cable: a) AMP high-density 50-pin (0.050 inch spacing) b) Centronics-style low-density 50-contact (0.085 inch spacing) I believe that ANSI X3T9.2 (SCSI Committee) members were supporting a move to high-density connectors to fit the smaller physical dimensions of the next generation computer products (especially personal computers). Are manufacturers of SCSI products really planning to change to the high-density connectors in the near future? Or, are they planning to stay with the low-density connectors to remain compatible with existing products? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Orrin Char Email ...!uunet!ingr!b11!char Senior System Engineer char@b11.INGR.COM Intergraph Corporation Phone: (205)772-6127 Mail Stop CR1105 One Madison Industrial Park Huntsville, Al. 35807
