I am very familiar with the physical maintanance of a very large
broadband lan, but, I know next to nothing about how data is
processed by the various devices on the lan. Such as NIUs, bridges,
and gateways... 

I have heard the software people here speak of TCP-IP. Could
someone please give me a good feel for this protocol? What does
it mean, where is it used, how does it work???
