It was unintentional. The fact remains that universal MX records don't relieve all mail-relays of the need to do source routing. I keep seeing people discuss these cases that are supposed to be intractable in the DNS. I've been hammering (repeatedly, sigh) on my best personal example where it worked flawlessly. Perhaps I'm seeing things from the wrong end. Can someone provide me with a real world case where the % hack is _needed_? (A pointer into the appropriate spot in the HR RFCs will do, if applicable.) --Karl
