I haven't noticed any problems with -u. I just tried "-u 10" and it updates
every 10 seconds then I tried "-u 60" and it properly updates the time
every minute. Note that with "-u 60" the seconds are still displayed until
the time "rolls over" then it switches the expected hh:mm format.

Please let me know of any other calentool bugs you may discover. Several
minor problems have crept in with this latest set of patches; I hope to
get out an update this weekend.
