For instance, some children who have good verbal skills are very poor at reading and spelling because of perceptual or learning disorders. These children might find good quality synthetic speech helpful if it could be called upon to help pronounce difficult words or locate words in a dictionary. Does anyone have suggestions for software or places to look for software (commercial or ftp-able) that might be useful in this way? Parenthetically, the text to phoneme algorithm that comes with the system is probably marginal at best for such kids, but the amiga can easily support either better text to phone rules using the existing phoneme to sound system or completely different synthesis software.
