I have a 277N with the C Ltd. 2000 SCSI host/controller. I too have always had the series of additional disk accesses. I previously used the same 277N with a Supra interface, and I don't recall having that series of additional accesses. I have always assumed they were a function of the C Ltd interface, not the 277N. I also learned the hard way how important it was to wait for the blips. I shut down one day after using CED to edit my startup-sequence but before the blips. I later discovered that I had lost my startup-sequence and it had been replaced by a file with a name something like CygnusEd280.temp (I'm sure that is not the correct filename, but it did include some reference to CED, a three digit number, and the letters "temp". Then I could never get rid of that temp file. I have also had spurious disk accesses from time to time with this combination over the last 9 months. They bothered me at first, but I have never seen any adverse effects from them. And I've never seen any evidence of viral infection. -- Ernie Gorrie 9431 McBurney Drive, Richmond, B.C.
