However, this still means you have to have the styled variation on the disk or the Font Manager can't know about it. If you actually have Times Italic in your *:System:Fonts directory, when a program asks for Times Italic, the Font Manager will go load it and use it. If you don't, it will italicize the closest version of Times it can find. (BTW, some programs use the QuickDraw call SetTextFace for styled fonts. A program doing this doesn't give the Font Manager a chance to load the good font from disk, and so a created font will always be used.
