While I agree with the advice that it is a bit risky, and one is better off getting an RLL certified drive for the extra bytes, it works a fair percentage of the time, in my (humble) experience. As a matter of fact, I currently have more (not by many) difficulties with genuine 238R drives on RLL controllers than the 225s that I have stuck on them.
