There's code in the ROM of these machines to move the heads to track 79 before ejecting the disk. In System 6.0.4, the resource ptch=7 patches the disk driver on the Mac Plus, SE and II to provide the same fix. I disassembled this resource, and a quick glance at it show that it installs some new code in the low level I/O vectors, so I believe that the fix is in 6.0.4.
