That's not his point; ^N works, but doesn't tell you enough to let you know
that replies already exist.  He's talking about looking at an entire thread
*at the same time*, not just following threads as it finds them.

In any case, none of this would have helped with the copy I posted; as I noted
at the top, I didn't know whether it had already been posted or not (did
anyone actually *read* my preamble?  I don't think so from the posts I see
here) because ncoast wasn't getting news and I can't seem to read comp.sys.mac
from uunet.  (P.S.  Don't bother trying to tell me how; I'm not on uunet to
read news, except for c.s.misc which I get fine.)
