He's talking about looking at an entire thread *at the same time*, not just following threads as it finds them. In any case, none of this would have helped with the copy I posted; as I noted at the top, I didn't know whether it had already been posted or not (did anyone actually *read* my preamble? I don't think so from the posts I see here) because ncoast wasn't getting news and I can't seem to read comp.sys.mac from uunet. (P.S.
