Subject: Why do unStuff'd files have generic icons?

I never had this problem before, but recently, all the applications i've
unbinhexed and unStuffed and their files have generic application or
document icons.  I peeked inside with ResEdit, and all the right ICN#
and FREF and BNDL resources seem to be there.  The miniaturized icons
(proper) even appear in the menu bar under multifinder.  Restarting does
not help.  The applications run fine. by the way.  Any clues?
