Last year, I saw an add about a board called the "Surf Board."
It was hardware which claimed to add dedicated io ports to a
macintosh.

Has anyone heard of this product? Does anyone know the advantages 
and disadvantages of adding dedicated io ports to a mac?
Dedicated io is usually the providence of fileserving systems,
right?
