     I used a 4D/20, Personal Iris and with form='binary' I didn't get
any errors.  The compiler took 'binary' to mean the same as 'unformatted'.
I wish it had given me an error, that would have made it easier to find
out what the problems was.  What type of 4D were you using?
     Thanks for the info, up till this point I hadn't see any use for
unformatted files.
