I read the Interactive documentation on _xdm_, decided the defaults would work well for me, so I just added an entry in the default _Xservers_ file for the PC. Then I ran _xdm_ (in debug mode, natch). Some debug stuff appeared on _xdm_'s controlling screen and (miracle dictu) a _login_ window appeared on the remote PC. So I logged on. Some debug stuff saying that I was indeed a valid user appeared on the controlling screen and that a session was being started for me. Then immediately after I was informed that the session had croaked. The up shot of this is that I can logon via _xdm_ all day long but I can't do anything because all sessions initialized by _xdm_ fail (I don't believe it is getting as far as running the session script). Any Ideas. Thanks. Doug McNeil uunet!mitel!spock!mcneild
