Warning: at least with xenix, SCO ship man pages as nroff OUTPUT. Besides looking ugly, this can introduce some inaccuracies as the nroff driver used doesn't cope with superscripts. When I mentioned the problem to them, they indicated no plans to correct the situation. As always, "complain to your vendor".
