with respects to doug gwyn, there are some improvements that can be made
(we pass over the validity of an australian advising on pronounciations
for americans):

	STOP pronouncing all those vowels!!

thus mkdir is McDir, mknod is McNod, and mk is, of course, Mc.
i never say HUPCL and uucico is u-u-kick-oh.
