Summary: The Gethostbyname problem. On a Sun NOT running DNS, this causes weird problems (see my earlier mail). I was about to go batty on this one; yet again THANK GOD FOR THE NET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >let's hear it for the quiet genii (geniuses?) who always seem to come thru with lifesaving info. !!!!!!!! ps: NNTP authors/caretakers may do well to issue some sort of a warning to people on Suns not running DNS. This "feature" can quickly become a "I'm-going-to-jump-off-a-bridge" type problem. :-) -Farooq -- NOTHING in the above article has the slightest relationship to reality.
