 Well, after hearing from many people on the net, I figured out that
I had left in the "-lresolv" line in my NNTP makefile.  On a Sun 
NOT running DNS, this causes weird problems (see my earlier mail). 
I was about to go batty on this one; yet again THANK GOD FOR THE 
NET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps: NNTP authors/caretakers may do well to issue some sort of a  
    warning to people on Suns not running DNS.  This "feature" can quickly 
    become a "I'm-going-to-jump-off-a-bridge" type problem. :-)
