NY, NY Lines: 39 I may soon lose my access to usenet/news. :-(((((( I have asked this before and have gotten part of the way with much help from others. I thank all those who did respond last time. Some were quite helpful. At this time, I have the stuff from SIMTEL that allows me some sort of access to the usenet (INTERIM.ARC, etc). My goal is simple. I wish to be able to read selected newsgroups and be able to post to selected newsgroups. I wish to be able to read mail directed to me and post mail to people. The number of newsgroups I am interested in is rather small. I have an IBM PC w/DOS3.1, 320k ram, 40meg disk, 2400 baud modem, KERMIT. I do have Compuserv access but I hear that doesn't quite do it. BUT-I can email to people and vice versa, but no newsgroups. 1-Can I dial somewhere near to me (Northern NJ) using KERMIT into a news service? Is there such a service for a nominal fee? 2-Using the INTERIM.ARC (which allows me to become some version of a mail connection/server) can I do the same? Who out there has done this succussfully? N.B.I presently dial into a unix system, using kermit as a vt102 and this works just fine. I also have access at work. BTW: I'll be HAPPY to post to 'comp.sys.ibm.pc' any good info that solves my upcoming dilemma. Sorry for the WIDE posting but I wish to get moving on this. many, many thanks. please email me direct at: joec@morgan.com
