I have always assumed they were a function of the C > Ltd interface, not the 277N. As I stated before this first started happening with me as soon as I had a new ST277N-1 installed in my B2000. Previous to this drive I had an orginal ST277N (without the '-1') and it ran flawlessly for 11.25 months (on a 1 year warranty :-) ). This was with the orginal Cltd controller (Adaptec). The new drive made noise from the beginning with the old adaptec and now sounds the same with the new Kronos. It sounds like a problem with the new drive and Cltd controllers.
