Keywords: have money, need info Message-ID: <12930@eerie.acsu.Buffalo.EDU> Date: 8 Nov 89 17:13:49 GMT Sender: nobody@acsu.buffalo.edu Reply-To: cuddihy@sybil.cs.Buffalo.EDU.UUCP (Elisabeth Cuddihy) Organization: SUNY/Buffalo Computer Science Lines: 37 I am about to purchase a new computer system. All I know about the Amiga is through word of mouth. Please, PLEASE flood my mail box after reading the rest of this post! ========================================================================= WHERE I AM COMING FROM: I am a long time ibm/xt (yes, yuck) user and I am also a unix and c fanatic. The only windowing system I have ever used is X windows on a Sun workstation. WHERE I AM GOING: I want a system that can my new needs in graphics and the Mac looks over priced. WHAT I NEED FROM YOU PEOPLE :-) (help!) I am going to be doing video work. I will be a) creating computer animation and putting it on video tape b) taking video, feeding it into the computer to play with it and putting it back on the tape. I honestly don't know much about video although I do know some things about computer animation. I guess I could spend about $2000-$3500 but I don't want to go over board. (I can always add on later $-) Also, I am a firm believer in shareware and freeware. I am having a LOT of trouble finding info on the Amiga and I have NO idea where they are sold. I need to know: * What are the different agima systems and what would be best for my needs? * What software is available for my needs and, if freeware, where?
