It is a portable expert system shell developed at NASA Johnson. CLIPS has been run on DOS machines, VMS machines as well as UNIX machines by me as well as others. A forward chaining system, CLIPS is distributed by COSMIC for NASA. More information on this shell can be obtained by calling (713)-280-2233. Further, a book on expert systems as well as on CLIPS has been published recently. The name of the book is : EXPERT SYSTEMS : PRINCIPLES AND PROGRAMMING by J. Giarratano & G. Riley (PWS Kent Publishing, who have an 800 number). Please call the CLIPS help desk for further information on CLIPS as well as NETS (a Neural Network package).
