I got the files back out of our /news/spool/* area, did the stripping, cat'ed them together, and ported them back down to my pc. I have uuencode running on my pc. (Which is, incidently, where they were uuencoded in the first place.) Then I was able to successfully extract the programs. I also uudecoded it on the Unix machine, and used Kermit in "set file type binary" mode to port it down to my pc. This also worked.
