QMS, Inc., of Mobile Alabama sells a box we call "PrintLink". It has a Thick or thin Ethernet connection and acts like an FTP server. You call it up with FTP, send your file over, and it eventually despools it to the attached printer. The sender is never made to wait on the printer. The box has a console so that you can see the queue and delete jobs or put them on hold, etc. You can also see the queue by using the FTP "ls" command. It will support up to three printers.
