You may want to look at RFC 1118 "The Hitchhikers Guide to the
Internet".  If you have ftp access you can get this via anonymous ftp
from NIC.DDN.MIL.  Otherwise you can obtain it via the NICs electronic
mail service by sending mail to SERVICE@NIC.DDN.MIL with just the
subject line: RFC 1118.  Another useful reference which you would find
in a technical bookstore is "Internetworking with TCP/IP -- Principles,
Protocols and Architectures" by Douglas Comer, Prentice-Hall, 1988.
