Although the border cannot be changed such that you can get graphics, the 
border can have more than one colour. I have seen horizontal stripes being
displayed by a slide show program which made the screen look like a french
flag turned on its side.
I have also seen text with more than one colour but only in horizontal bands.
Interesting how creative people can get with the GS.
