We are currently looking at implementing a system wide monitoring
tool.  We expect this tool to accomplish the following:

		 1.  Evaluate the health of an ethernet network using
				 Cisco and Synoptics hardware.

     2.  Monitor the performance of HP and DEC mini-computers and
         workstations.

     3.  Keep tabs on application software running on the above machines.

     4.  Notify the appropriate personnel when an event occurs.

     5.  Perform simple maintenance functions.

This system should be able to run in hp-ux 6.5, hp-ux 3.1, and Ultrix (version
unknown).
