Stop pulling your hair, it hurts

Try a naming convention for special devices of culdxx 
where xx are numerics instead of ttyxx or ttydxx
ie Direct culd01 - Any direct
your perms might be 666
use cu -lculdxx -m dir  (etc)
for 98642 card port 0 = 0x----01
	       ports 1-3 = 0x----04

The trick is the name culdxx
