And no, I have no idea how -software could damage hardware. But this idea came from Compar; they -said something about "hard spaces" (??) being inserted by WP, tripping up -the drive--I couldn't follow the discussion at the time.) I've also had I can imagine a program exercising the drive to the point of failure, but...to suggest that WP's hard-space characters cause the problem is to suggest that the drive is incapable of writing certain data values. I assume that the "owner's son, a.k.a. mkg mgr" of Compar is the one who made this suggestion. Absent a rational explanation of *how* this data could trash a drive, I would assume that anyone who suggested the idea was technically absolutely incompetent. (As in, "You need a left-handed screwdriver for that".)
