When I got around to trying to USE it today, I ran into a problem: I can't get the VT100 keypad to work. The arrow keys don't function properly, either. I'm using a Mac Plus with a vanilla 6.0.3 system (my hard disk crashed, ), and the keyboard type is set to Mac Plus. I've tried toggling the VT100 keypad and cursor key modes, changing to just vt100 instead of vt102, telling it I had different types of keyboards, and nothing has worked. I even went so far as to use the 'Install Special Keys' utility to install them to what they're supposed to be. It still doesn't work. The keypad sends an ESC when 'Clear' is pressed, and numbers,=,/,*,-,+ etc for the rest. The arrow keys either send nothing, or ^^^'s. This makes it hard to use tcsh without arrow keys, or any editor, for that matter. Posting news is fun, too since I have to use an editor at some point. How did I manage it? Strangely, using the VT100 status bar works, if I click the mouse in the appropriate box, I can type any keypad key, or arrow key, and they work normally. Nothing from my keyboard works, though. Has anyone else been able to get their keypad to work? (Yes, I did see the blurb on p. 261 listing a solution to the problem I'm describing. I tried all of those before I saw it, tried them again after, and nothing works.) -Karl Smith ksmith@jarthur.claremont.edu
