Who can point me to right direction in this following matter.

I want to make two Macintosh volumes on the same hard disk
preferable using a PD program. I tried a program called 'HD 
partition' but I noticed that in fact it is ONE VOLUME eg.
when I check disk usage it shows the who whole usage and not
the partitions usage on first partition. Second shows alright
but it is not what I want. Perhaps there is a newer version
but where can I find it?
