It works much the same way as the WorkSpace's dock, with floating windows, double-click to execute programs within the dock, etc., plus it's two-dimensional (unlike NeXT's 1D dock). It's sitting in the NeXT archives on cc.purdue.edu (you can get it through anonymous ftp in pub/next/source/AltDock.tar.Z).
