If you're using X windows, it's fairly easy to hack in some changes to the Xsun server to allow users to choose their own autorepeat initiate and autorepeat delay times. I would have liked to make this an xset-able parameter, but this would have been a bit more work, so for now it's only doable via the command line. I can provide diffs to the MIT server (R3 + patches 1-10 + purdue 2.1) if anyone's interested.
