We have compiled the MIT release X11R3, with no optimization, and no errors. When we run the program xinit, we get a "Memory Parity Error: pa=7000000 va=2000000" scrolling off the screen. the first argument increments for each new line, and the second remains the same. If we kill X (the server), the problem goes away, and if we try to execute just X (ie: Xsun), we get the same problem. The same code runs on a 4/260 (monochrome) under sunOS 4.0 with no problem(see note below). All the clients will run on the 4/370 if they are displayed somewhere else with no problem. We have replaced the cpu card twice, and the cg6 once, ruling out (probably) a hardware problem. Has anyone ever seen a problem like this, or does anyone have any ideas that we can try? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Jim Jensen Martin Marietta Laboratories 1450 South Rolling Road Baltimore, MD 21227 (310) 247-0700 x2605 arpanet: jensen@mmlai.uu.net note: when the server was compiled for the 4/260, it was compiled on the 4/260, under sunOS4.0. This code was tried on the 4/370 with the above error, and then recompiled under sunOS4.0.3 but still doesn't work. The 4.0.3 compiled code was not retried on the 4/260.
