I will post discussions on comp.protocols.iso. To start, ANSI X3H3.6 is seeking individuals interested in working on an OSI mapping for the ANSI X DSE Standard. So far the group has reviewed two proposals: a. run X directly over a connection-oriented Transport layer b. run X as another application layer protocol using minimal services of ACSE, Presentation and the FTAM unstructured binary presentation context. It seems likely that a new work item will be started to technically address this issue. Most folks are leaning toward proposal b above. If interested, contact rita brennan nvuxr!reb@bellcore.bellcore.com phone: (201) 758-2168. I will post summaries and project status. <<<<< "ahead all is uncharted. i know not whither i am bound, but only what i seek." >>>>> Ken Lee DEC Western Software Laboratory, Palo Alto, Calif.
