I hate the Ultrix4.0 version and I never had a use for it in the past anyway. I found the session manager to be cumbersome, (I find most 'browser' type apps to get in the way), and asked one of the DEC support people about it. He pointed me to a very handy utility call 'xsh'. This lives in '/usr/demo/dwt'. This allows you to run the DEC window manager, and still have straight-forward access to an 'application starter'. Doug Klein Network Computing Devices
