My intent was encapsulated by the sentence about window managers. I suspect on the errors listed what happened was they were added mistakenly when we went through the library trying to identify what errors each could generate. But doing document archeology to determine when the errors went into the spec seems pointless. In any case, my claim is that those routines should never generate errors, but return an error indication to the caller. - Jim
