If a site admin doesn't want to carry rec groups -- and mine doesn't, sadly -- to slip a rec group in disguised as a sci group is fraudulent. Yes, it might mean better distribution, and thus perhaps a better group ... but do the ends justify the means? No -- they never have, they never will, if the means are wrong. I am reminded of a recent event in Centre, Pennsylvania. The local paper there frequently exposes the odious shenanigans of local politicians. So one day a few months ago some pols were spotted, pulling the postage-paid subscription envelopes out of copies of the paper. It seems they were intending to mail the envelopes in empty, thus fraudulently running up the paper's expenses. Richard's misdirection is on the same level.
