In Chapter 8 (Learning Internal Representations by Error Propagation) of 
Parallel Distributed Processing by Rumelhart et al, a method for recognizing
two charcaters T and C, irrespective of translation and rotation, is described.
Has anyone tried to extend this method to recognize three characters or more,
like T-C-E? If yes, can any hints be provided? I am currenntly trying this
problem and it does not appear to be a straightforward extension.
