I'm currently having a problem in data transfer rates with my uucp
host. I'm using a version of uucico that runs on MS-DOS systems called
UFGATE. What occurs is that when I establish login and start *sending*
data I get transfer rates around 1900 bps, but when I receive news and 
mail the transfer rates get bumped down tp around 800 bps. I'm using a 2400
baud Cardinal semi-Hayes compatible (not a full implementation of the 
command set) internal modem on a PC-XT.

If anyone has any suggestions as to why this happens I would greatly
