Could someone suggest a good book or two as a starting point for
learning Smalltalk?

Also, are there any decent free versions of Smalltalk available which
are suitable for a beginner to use to learn the language? I'd be
interested in anything that runs either under MeSsyDOS or SCO XENIX 386.
If you know of such a beastie, please let me know and how to get it.
