Sites that generate toronto.edu fall in two categories: either they were on CSNet and the ARPANET before the Canadian domain came into being, or they prefer the functional .edu naming scheme. Computer Center preference is towards the use .Ca and most sites on campus do so. Some sites (like this one) even allow users to pick which one gets on their outgoing mail...
